Brought to you by a self-proclaimed Western expert on Thai women and Thai culture.
Firstly some common phrases and abbreviations:
LOS = Land of Smiles. Thailand is a smiley country! Everyone will smile at you. Girls, guys, cops, lawyers and babies included. So it's worth smiling back! I think this is one of the things that makes living in LOS so enjoyable. (Although it may not always be genuine), everyone is very nice and smiley.
BG = Bargirl. A girl who works in a bar. More specifically a girl who works for an open air "bar beer" (บาร์เบียร์) or as a dancer in a Go-Go. Some of these girls work as wait staff but almost all of them are sleeping with guys for money.
TG = Thai girl. Just a normal, typical, everyday Thai girl. Student, unemployed, corporate, whatever, just not a BG.
BKK = Bangkok, which interestingly is not called Bangkok in Thai (it's the old name). Thais call the city 'Kroong-thep' (กรุงเทพ)
P4P = Pay for Play. Sex for money. Thailand is popular with sex tourists (someone who travels overseas for the explicit reason of sleeping with the locals) and sexpats (someone who loves the local women so much that they pack up and move there).
T-I-T - "This is Thailand". A phrase uttered by countless tourists and expats upon witnessing one of the many inconceivable and ridiculously improbable daily occurrences in LOS. Honestly, you just have to shake your head and say "T-I-T".
